St. Petersburg, FL (March 21, 2012) - With just a few days until the 2012 Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg opens gates to the eighth edition of its event, organizers are gearing up for an action-packed weekend with an event-record number of races, series and cars.

The on-track spectacle will be non-stop with 10 races happening throughout the weekend, March 23-25. Race fans will have the opportunity to watch 6 different series’ take to the track, which include the IZOD IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights, Star Mazda, USF2000, Pirelli World Challenge and – racing at St. Petersburg for the first time – Ferrari Challenge. It’s estimated that a total of 175 cars will be on-track over the 3-day event.

But the action doesn’t stop with on-track excitement. In addition to a solid line-up of celebrity appearances, fans can also enjoy autograph sessions, interactive games and activities in the Bright House Speed Zone and the INDYCAR Fan Village. Real horsepower will also return in the form of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. The SOCOM Parachute Team and the US Coast Guard will also do a helicopter flyover, as part of the pre-race ceremonies for the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series.
